Mada & Hugh - Award-Winning Piano Duo

When Romanian pianist Madalina Danila and Korean-American pianist Hugh Sung sit at one piano, sparks fly. With passion, precision, and a touch of humor, Mada & Hugh bring audiences into their world of four-hand storytelling—where tradition meets imagination in every note.

2 Worlds. One Piano.

Our Story

We're Mada & Hugh, an internationally acclaimed 4-hand piano duo that performs concerts around the world. What is a 4-hand piano duo? It's when two pianists play together on one piano, creating an incredibly rich tapestry of sound, texture and rhythm that's impossible to achieve with solo performance.

Our unique partnership combines Madalina's Romanian classical training with Hugh's Korean-American musical perspective, creating performances that bridge cultures and generations. Together, we've developed a distinctive style that honors classical traditions while embracing contemporary arrangements and original compositions.

The Four-Hand Piano Difference

Four-hand piano music offers a unique listening experience that combines the precision of chamber music with the power of orchestral arrangements. When two skilled pianists share one instrument, they create:

  • Rich harmonic textures impossible with solo piano

  • Dynamic contrasts that span the full range of the instrument

  • Rhythmic complexity that emerges from true musical collaboration

  • Intimate musical dialogue between two artists in real-time
